This June, the Vista Grande Public Library invites visitors to experience a delightful pairing of artistry and imagination as two Eldorado creatives—Greg Cohen and Selene Sinclair—return with fresh new work in both 2D and 3D.
🎨 Greg Cohen: Acrylic Joy in the 2D Gallery
A true creative polymath, Greg Cohen is a novelist, musician, photographer—and now, a self-taught acrylic painter whose work is as joyful as it is diverse. What began in 2013 as an artistic experiment, using his own travel photography as reference material, has blossomed into a vibrant painting practice. His works range from whimsical figurative scenes to evocative still lifes, always with one goal: to make the viewer smile.
Greg’s paintings have received national recognition, including selection from over 900 entries into the East End Arts National Juried Exhibition in New York, and repeat inclusion in the juried Corrales Old Church Art Show. Eldorado locals will recognize him from past Studio Tours, where his sense of play and storytelling through paint have delighted visitors.
📚 Selene Sinclair: Storytelling Through Found Objects in 3D
Over in the 3D space, Selene Sinclair returns with her signature mix of magic and material. A former elementary school librarian with a love for pop-up books, Selene transforms everyday objects into enchanting visual stories. Her June exhibit includes a curious mix of helmets, handmade books, and imaginative constructions that push the boundaries of traditional book forms.
Working with paste paper, vintage flags, boxes, and even dismembered book pages (yes—she owns a guillotine!), Selene creates cabinet dioramas and sculptural books that don’t need words to tell a story. “There’s no end to what can be done with collected objects,” she says with a laugh—and her work proves it.
In addition to exhibiting her own art, Selene teaches classes at the Eldorado Senior Center, sharing her passion and inventive spirit with fellow creatives.
🖼️ Please Note: There will be no artist reception in June.💙 A portion of all sales benefits VGPL, Eldorado’s independent nonprofit library serving Southwestern Santa Fe County.
Stop by during library hours and immerse yourself in a world of color, creativity, and curiosity—right here in your own community.
