At the EACA 2nd Quarter General Meeting, James Johnson delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation on the power of creativity and the habits that help it thrive. Drawing from his experience leading MAKE Santa Fe, James shared five essential ingredients for creativity: Space, Time, Resilience, Confidence, and Humor.

Through engaging stories and practical insight, he reminded attendees that creativity is not simply an innate talent—it is a skill developed through practice, curiosity, and persistence. James emphasized that the creative process requires us to make room for ideas, embrace setbacks, trust our instincts, and maintain a sense of play along the way.
He also introduced the group to the innovative opportunities available at MAKE Santa Fe’s 7,000-square-foot makerspace, where artists and creators can explore new media, technologies, and techniques in a collaborative environment.

Most importantly, James reframed creativity as an intentional act of showing up—again and again—and choosing to create. His message left attendees energized and encouraged to approach both their professional and personal lives with greater imagination, resilience, and confidence.
