I was born in Durham, North Carolina, and spent most of my childhood on our family farm. I was fascinated by how we constructed things and manipulated the earth in contrast to the natural landscape. This led me to pursue a career in architecture, while also continuing to create images as a studio artist. I’ve created images of contrast between man-made and nature-made environments and objects, and I’m particularly drawn to the emotional impact of each. I seek inspiration from memory, dreams and imagination. This allows greater freedom and visceral interpretation. I have two degrees in architecture and received a full graduate fellowship from Syracuse University to study full-time at their campus in Florence, Italy. While there, I also studied printmaking at Il Bisonte International Printmaking Studio. I’ve shown my work in galleries in Seattle, Washington, and the Bellevue Art Museum. My work is also collected in Asia and the United States.
