Pat Rasmussen

My work has evolved over the years as I try new techniques and materials. Most recently, I have been concentrating on 3D art. I use pyrography, carving, dyeing, painting and embellishments such as beads and pine-needle, paper coil or leather rims on my art gourds. Using wool fiber and a barbed needle, I create 3D sculptures of both woodland animals and human figures ranging from the whimsical to realistic. Teaching needle felting at John C. Campbell Folk School in NC allows me to explore new ideas and techniques as I learn from my students.
