Katy Reka is a book and fiber artist, graphic designer, and educator whose work is rooted in material exploration and close observation of the natural world. Working between handmade books, printmaking, textiles, and mixed media, she builds tactile narratives that connect body, environment, and everyday material life. Her practice often begins with direct engagement with materials such as paper, cloth, thread, and plant-based elements, allowing process and structure to evolve together. Themes of interconnectedness, cycles of growth and decay, resilience, and fragility run through her work, expressed through layered surfaces, stitched forms, and printed imagery. With a background in graphic design and book arts, she moves between structured design thinking and intuitive making, exploring how meaning is carried through physical form. Based in Santa Fe, she maintains a studio practice grounded in place, process, and material response. She also teaches and exhibits nationally and abroad.
