Joe Mullins

I work primarily in large-scale watercolor, creating landscapes and monsoon cloud formations that balance observation with intuition. While I may begin with quick sketches or photographs, I set the reference aside once the painting begins. I find that strict adherence to source material can create rigidity; I prefer to allow the image to evolve organically.
