Mary Ellen Matthews

Mary Ellen Matthews is an artist living in both Santa Fe and San Antonio, Texas. During the pandemic she wanted to learn something new. She had never tried sculpture. Thanks to you-tube, she was able to teach herself to create animals with papier-mache. She wanted to make them whimsical. A touch of humor was used to make people more light hearted. Mary Ellen has used handmade paper, artist’s books, printmaking, assemblage, painting, and papier-mâché to create her art.
