Jennie Charlton Locke

I was raised in New Orleans and I believe the intense color and texture there led to those things being the hallmarks of my painting. Animals have become my primary subjects. I use them as stand-ins to represent facets of our human condition. My time is now shared between NM and SC, and in both areas of the country our gorgeous natural surroundings are home to the creatures I love to paint. Bears, deer, foxes, rabbits, owls, all move me in a way that help me feel part of the natural world.
